Dunlaoghaire Rathdown County Council21-02-2013
As part of the Cycle Programme for Dunlaoghaire Rathdown County Council, Falco provided secure cycle parking for up to 88 bicycles using the Gamma Hi bicycle shelters in four different locations through out the Dublin area.
We asked our customer for feedback on the bicycle shelters under the following headings:
Plans for promoting cycling in Dunlaoghaire Rathdown County Council:
Dunlaoghaire Rathdown County Council are committed to providing high quality cycle facilities throughout the County. To this aim we are currently preparing a cycle network assessment which will create a formal network of cycle routes and assist in focusing investment to the areas that it will benefit the most. We have also adopted a Cycle Policy which contains development standards (which include cycle parking).
Reasons for choosing the Sheffield stand with the Gamma Hi bicycle shelters:
We have found that the Sheffield stands are the most robust and reliable stands. We have used a number of different configurations including toaster racks and they generally don't work as well and are more prone to damage and breakages.
Reasons for choosing the Gamma hi bicycle shelter:
No side panel reduced the opportunity for graffiti and vandalism. Being able to load your bike from both sides was an advantage. The design did not cause rubbish to collect at the base.
Feedback about the service we provided from initial site visit, drawings, technical competence to pre-commencement of works and installation.
Service was very satisfactory. Only small issue was a delay in the lead time of the shelters.
Feedback on the success of the cycling plan.
So far all of the cycle parking we have upgraded/provided is being used to full capacity.
